I’ve been programming all weekend and, without any doubt in my mind, when I come back into the office there will be people who will not understand how I have completed another project many weeks before the deadline. There are certain sacrifices I make, despite my casual work attitude, that give me a workplace advantage. It takes a lot of work to gain something as seemingly trivial as a new perspective on an issue or to push back thoughts that something is too difficult to achieve in a given time-frame or, even more defeatist, impossible. It’s very comforting to know I work with other like-minded developers that do not simply turn off their mind when their 8 hours is up.
“Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

“My dear, here we must run as fast as we can, just to stay in place. And if you wish to go anywhere you must run twice as fast as that.”
